Decompress a GZIP file
Restore the bytes of one GZIP file locally.
Limits before you start: One file at a time, up to 20 MB. Output up to 64 MB; requires browser GZIP support.
Decompress a GZIP file
Restore the bytes of one GZIP file locally.
Compression runs locally. GZIP handles one file and is not the same as ZIP, RAR or 7Z.
🔒 Your file is processed on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
When to use it
Remove the GZIP layer from a .gz file and download the decompressed bytes. A .tar.gz becomes TAR; this tool does not extract the files inside TAR.
What changes in the result?
GZIP handles one data stream, not a folder of files. It is not ZIP, RAR or 7Z. Already compressed files may not become smaller.
If conversion does not work
Use an updated browser. Corrupted GZIP files or output exceeding 64 MB are rejected to protect device memory.
How to use this converter
- Choose a supported file or drop it into the converter.
- Review the file and start the conversion.
- Download the new file when it is ready.
Local processing
The file stays on your device and is not uploaded to ZivelaConv for this conversion.
The accepted formats and size limit appear in the converter. Browser support and available memory can lower the practical limit on some phones.
